A Career in U.S. Foreign Service: A Day in the Life of a Foreign Diplomat

Location: HGS 211

Mr. Gettinger joined the Foreign Service in 1979 and spent many of the years since working in Japan -- in Tokyo, Nagoya and Okinawa -- or in Washington in positions related to the U.S./Japan relationship. To offer a more specific insight into his career, Mr. Gettinger will speaking on the investigation into the murder of the American churchwomen in El Salvador in 1980 and the trial of the killers in 1984. A light dinner will be offered.
