Coffee Cup Conversation: Gordon Jenkins, Slow Food Inc

Location: UCS Library

Gordon is the advocacy coordinator for Slow Food USA, a national network of volunteers who work hard to build communities where everyone enjoys good, clean and fair food. Gordon joined the staff to coordinate the organization's first advocacy campaign, which is calling for Congress to help public schools serve real food for lunch. Previously, he worked with the team that organized Slow Food Nation 2008, a public gathering that brought 85,000 people together over Labor Day weekend in San Francisco; and he served as an assistant to the advocate and chef Alice Waters. He grew up in Berkeley, CA and graduated from Yale College in 2007 with a B.A. in Literature. As a student, he was an avid farmer and organizer with the Yale Sustainable Food Project. NOTE: You must register in eRecruiting for these events. Space is limited. Registration Deadline: Monday prior to the event date.

Behind the Scenes Tour: Yale Rep/School of Drama

Location: 1120 Chapel St./222 York St.

Every year UCS offers guided tours of arts related venues during the academic year or as part of its Summer Series. This spring we will be offering several tours in New Haven. Each event will consist of a personalized guided tour of the facility, a presentation, and a question and answer session. Pre-registration is required to participate in these events. Careers in Law Series ~ Public Interest/Criminal Law

Guest Speaker: Susan Coccocia has worked with the CT Public Defender's Office for 22 years in the low court doing criminal defense work as a litigator and is presently in Part A representing criminal defendants charged with Class A and B felonies. Guest Speaker: Angelica Papastavros is a criminal defense attorney who began her career working for The Office of Corporation Counsel for the City of West Haven before starting her own private practice in 2000.
